Water Story of Malap Village

Water Story of Malap Village

Before Project Intervention

Women in the area are spending their life to bring water for the family. If we analyze Liburi daily routine then we came to know that she is spending around 80 days in a year for only this work. If we take an average of a life expectancy which is 60-year average and she started working at the age of 15 then she spends 3600 days in her life or 9 years to bring water. In this situation, we should think how we can convert these times of her life in more productive working which can bring happiness to the children and the family.

• Name – Liburi w/o Natha
• Hamlet – Nal Wali Fali
• The distance from water sources- 1 to 2Km.
• Time spent to bring one pot of water- 45 minutes
• Total water requirement in a day- 7 pot
• One day time in water fetching-315 minutes
• Total time spent in a year is -114975minutes or 1916.25 hours or 80 days.

Not only Liburi but every common woman living in tribal villages is living life like Liburi. Children’s childhood is also not visible the daily routine of a tribal family. A big part of women’s life has passed out in water fetching. If she works in NREGA then has to bring water in the night. Sometimes children also help a mother in her work. In Southern Rajasthan like Udaipur, Sirohi district water scarcity is a big problem. In this situation, RBKS and BINANI take initiative to intervene and help women and family in this problem area and introduced Roof Rain Water Harvesting Structure in the area. It will help her to save time and she can use it for the betterment of the family.
