Elementary Education

RBKS believes that providing education facilities through various institutes can help to reach facilities in remote regions to a few thousands of children only. Considering the facts about need and supply situation the most important is family attitude towards education, therefore RBKS takes up activities, which are beyond projects – they are Networking, Community Motivation, and Advocacy. In these lines RBKS works as a motivator for girl’s education in village committees. Our staff participates during “Praveshotsav” and supports enrollment and follow up of education in whole working area i.e Rajasthan, Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh. Education opportunities through Child Learning Centers for dropouts, non- School going and deprived Children and Rehabilitation & education for child labour. Child Learning center are center where we create learning and motivational environment for non- school going children. Here they get basic and primary education so that they can get admission in age appropriate class. We are running Child Learning Center for environment building for education in our working area. We are supporting education promotion through 50 child learning center in Udaipur, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Jalore, Jodhpur and Sirohi. Nutrition support for school going children We are providing nutrition support to school children which are running by RBKS. In rural area mal nourishment and anemia is common among children and women so it is necessary to work on the issue. In villages we motivate and enrolled pregnant and lactating mother and children to get supplementary nutrition from Anganwadi centers. The efforts helps to increase the nourishment level among children. Bal Sansad / Child Club : In all education institutes and hostel we formed Child Club / BalSansad with proper election. Aim of election is to aware and make children understand about democratic procedure in India. It is playing an important role to make children more responsible. It is a body of children that work for child development and is set up ‘by the children’, ‘for the children’ and consists ‘of the children’. Members of BalSansad are aged between 8 -17 years. The students of the school and hostel elect the President and other members of the Sansad. It provides an effective structure for the children to initiate positive change among themselves and in communities before they attain the right to vote by the constitution of India. Objectives: • To bring every child together at one platform to create an open and safe space. • To strengthen their voice and leadership. • To put emphasis on issues which affect children directly. • To promote the right of participation of every child.

Residential Hostel & Orphan homes

RBKS has 16 hostels to promote education because children living in remote area could not come school as day scholars. The distance is so wide for the children to come daily and parents are not able to pay bus or jeep expenses. Some places are so remote and far so the transportation facilities are not available. Therefore we started hostel facility especially for girls in 1983 so that they can stay at hostel and educated. Our first hostel was started in 1983 with 25 girls which is supported by Department of Social Justice and Empowerment in 1985 and later it is promoted to 85 and now 110 girls are studying in that hostel named as scheduled tribe girls hostel, Jhadol. The hostel help a lot in the field of Girl’s education. Teji Nanama from Godawara village was student of this hostel and she is now a Government teacher and also looking after as warden. Many success are there. In 1998 we also stated an orphanage for 25 boys and for 25 girls in 2001 and now the no is increased 50 children in each hostel. All the facility like food, stationary, education uniform, dress, coaching, oil, soap, surf etc. are free. Children are benefitted from this home and they are living a dignitary life. Prakash who is student and live at orphanage, now is a teacher and teaching in school run by RBKS. Similarly many are working in NGOs and employee in office. In 1995 a residential school namely “Education Complex” was started with the support of Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme was launched in 1995 by Central Government for Education promotion in Low Literacy Pocket. Initial it was approved for 50 girls but gradually the no. increased and presently it is sanctioned for 247 girls and this year it is recommended for 404 girls. Women & Child Development Initiatives

The extent of child rights violation that occurs in Rajasthan is no hidden matter. One can also assess the situation by poor HDI (Human Development Index) reflected through high infant mortality rate (IMR) and mother mortality rate (MMR), the immunization status, nutritional status, educational status, enrollment and dropout rates and child labour. RBKS is actively involved and devoted to working towards an integrated child education program and the rehabilitation of child labour, providing adequare nutrition and promoting overall child development since it’s inception. This program is designed to HELP AND DEVELOP WOMEN’S KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS so that they will be able to improve their occupation and income, through SHGs it provides training in different fields. Health, Hygiene and sanitation

Women are informed on health & hygiene issues, reproductive health, govt schemes like Janni Suraksha Yojna, old age pension, widow pension, supplementary nutrition to pregnant women and lactating mother. Tribal community in the region lacks basic medical facilities. Few doctors are available at the primary health centers and thus, timely medical help is difficult to obtain. RBKS has been trying to address health issues with a focus towards “improvement of health on a long term basis”. The major emphasis of the program is on “Preventive Health”. The health program also includes involvement in activities like Pulse Polio Camp, Health Check-up Camps for Women and provision of nutritional food for students in the child leaning center, child labour schools and crèches. Interactive awareness meetings are organized in different project villages on the issue of reviving traditional health care system. Thus people have poor access to health facilities located in distant centers. RBKS address the issues relating to Lack of knowledge and awareness, Prevention is better than cure and improved access to basic health-care facilities. It is observed that in tribal remote villages, where health facilities are located at long distances and transport facilities are poor, any minor ignorance/delay causes fatal situations. There are many diseases, which if given attentions and timely action taken, losses can be controlled. Therefore one of the key focuses of RBKS activity is awareness generation, skill building, and local treatment of deadly diseases. Some of the initiatives are: Safe Motherhood Program, Immunization Campaign, training to local birth attended, Training on RCH, BCC, awareness building on family planning. Immunization – It is well known that prevention is always better than cure and being an active agency in health sector RBKS adopts preventive measures for disease control, which included motivation for immunization against life risk diseases of the children and mother. Beside routine immunization, activities also focused to control prevailing anemia among women especially pregnant women and children. This is achieved through continued and regular contact drives. Health Activities/Traditional Health-care System-By generating awareness and conducting health-care seminars and camps we are focusing on ‘Preventive Health’. RBKS has been trying to address the health problem with a focus on “Improving health on long term basis”. The health programs also includes involvement in activities like Pulse Polio Camp, Health Check-Ups Camps for women and Nutritional Food for students of Child Labour School & Crèches. Interactive awareness meetings were organized in different project villages on the issue of revival of Traditional Health Care System. Our health programmes involved activities like Pulse Polio Camp, Health Check-up Camps for Women, and Nutritional Food for students.
