Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti (RBKS)

Non Governmental Organization India

Women constitute the major part in our target groups hence this programme is specially designed to help and develop women’s knowledge and skills. We provide them training through Self Help Groups (SHGs), it helped increasing number of women engaged in income generation and there-upon implementing saving and credit programs.

In an agrarian society male-female, both should be well versed with all the technological complexities and options for family livelihood. The impact of long socialization processes and lack of control over financial resources has made the status of women in society continue to move down.  If we compare the situation in RBKS supported villages and other adjoining villages we can find tremendous difference in the form of their involvement in development, training programs, family decisions, group decisions, etc. RBKS was involved in programs addressing Rural Women development such as; Tailoring Training Centres, Women Education Centres, Agro Processing Unit (Vegetable gardening), Self Help Groups, Employment Program for Widows  & Poor Women and Education Program for Women. This has resulted in their increasing self-dependence towards decision making and they are capable of taking different decisions. Role of women have increased at community level for social and economic aspects. The following activities are promoting them to move forward and stand parallel to the men in society.

Residential facilities for tribal girls

Girls are deprived from educational facilities in our working areas because of many societal constraints. The main issue is lack of residential facilities and low accessibility to schools owing to the distance between the village and the educational institution. Therefore since its inception RBKS focused on provision of residential education facilities and a proper environment for holistic child development. The students are also provided vocational training. These girls have learned to participate and work together in all situations to gain self-confidence and face any challenge in life. Following is a table revealing unique hostel facilities provided by RBKS in this tribal block:
