Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti (RBKS)

Non Governmental Organization India

Rajasthan Bal Kalyan Samiti (RBKS) is a widely recognized NGO, dedicated to uplift rural tribal society. We work on the issues of overall community empowerment by availing basic requirements including education, health-care, sanitation, livelihood, and natural resources management for deprived segments of society.
In its thirtieth year of inception, RBKS is resolute to change the scenario of 400 villages in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
As of now, we are supporting several watersheds, irrigation schemes, anicuts, employment centres, day care centres etc, besides thirty schools, eight colleges, four hostels, twelve baal-waris, sixteen child labour rehabilitation centres and two orphanages without any governmental aids.

Background

It all started in the year 1981, when Pt. Jeevat Ram Sharma (Babuji), took upon himself to educate seventeen tribal children with modest means. The journey that started thirty years back has now flourished into several accomplishments for those in need. It was in 1990, that RBKS started addressing issues of livelihood and over all rural development. We started working to develop a set of solutions to issues pertaining to water scarcity, livestock productivity, degradation of land and exploitation of poor by moneylenders. As these problems are interlinked and without working for all of them, we can not even imagine of a lasting change.
With our main focus to education, we also put in our efforts to an overall society upgradation.
As said by Babuji (Pt. Jeevat Ram Sharma)
“Children are future of our nation, their growth plays a vital role in the development of our country. Development means increasing not only access to education but holistic development.”
